Understanding Kurdish Cultural and Artistic Production in Transnational Contexts

The Kurdish Language, Literature, and Art Certificate Program is an online continuing education program offering by Yekmal Academy for Language, Education, and Research gGmbH is designed for individuals interested in exploring the rich and multifaceted worlds of Kurdish linguistic, literary, and artistic expression in Diaspora. Responding to a growing interest in Kurdish cultural production—in diaspora context—this program provides a structured and academically grounded space for learning, reflection, and creative engagement.

Despite the vibrancy of Kurdish cultural life in Germany—manifested through literature, cinema, visual arts, music, and theatre—there is a lack of structured educational offerings that bring together Kurdish language, artistic practices, and literary traditions in a coherent program. This certificate program aims to fill this institutional void by offering an accessible, critical, and inclusive learning platform.

The program is open to a wide range of participants, including educators, artists, students, cultural workers, and anyone interested in deepening their understanding of Kurdish cultural heritage and contemporary expression. It invites both theoretical exploration and creative interpretation, bridging academic inquiry and artistic practice.

The certificate program is composed of a series of online modules that participants can attend individually. However, in order to receive a certificate of completion, participants must:

• Attend all modules, and

• Complete an Abschlussprojekt (final independent project)

Note: If some participants do not wish to attend all classes, we will prioritize applications from those who wish to attend all classes. A different fee will be charged based on their application. Also, those who wish to attend the classes but do not want to prepare a project can also register. In the end, they will only receive a certificate of completion.
